Her past roles span some of opera and music theater’s most beloved characters: Violetta in La Traviata, Mimi and Musetta in La Bohème, Rosalinda in Die Fledermaus, Donna Anna in Don Giovanni, Adina in L’elisir d’amore, Pamina in The Magic Flute, and Lady Shayne in Noël Coward’s Bitter Sweet.

Among her favorite roles, she returns often to tragic romantic heroines like Mimi and Violetta, and to Musetta for her spunk and spirit. She’s especially proud of tackling Rosalinda, a role that pushed her as a lyric soprano to sing to the fullest edge of her range and Lady Shayne, a character that ages from 18 to 80 across one performance.

Susan’s instinct to search for immediacy and emotional depth carries directly into her work as a director and instructor. She draws on decades of her own experience on stage to coach performers to infuse performance with vulnerability.

Recent performances include the Tucson Symphony, Arts Express, and Tucson Pops Orchestra, and her discography from the last decade includes the album Ethnic Influences with Katherine Cathcart.
